Message of the Vice-Chancellor

             In recent years Distance Education in India has been gaining wide popularity and social acceptability.  The educational planners and leading experts in educational field are of the opinion that Distance System of education is the great hope of the future of India.  In the existing global scenario, the role of education is fast changing and now it is being felt that the national educational programme should be strongly linked with the employment.  Distance Education, being a more flexible and cost-effective system, has emerged as a formidable system of mass education and has shown an enormous growth in the nation which constitutes a significance segment of total population of students in colleges and universities.  The philosophy of open learning (Distance Education) is now assuming global acceptance because of being in context to the changed educational scenario.  Subsequently, it has become a potent tool for viable alternative to conventional system of education and training.  This has not only widened the scope and opportunities for higher learning to the younger generation, particularly to such persons who are willing to enhance their educational qualifications without disturbing their present employment or to such other persons who could not join regular courses due to their personal and economic reasons.  With the academic leadership along with the active administrative and financial support of the Distance Education Council, the State Open Universities and the Distance Education Departments of Indian Universities are playing significant role in the development and promotion of distance education in the country.  These institutions are doing commendable job in introduction and conduct of numerous courses which are conventional as well as modern.

            I note, with immense pleasure that the Institute of Distance Education is playing a vital role in promotion of education not only in Bundelkhand, but in the entire country.  It is presently offering 11 specialised, non-conventional, job oriented programmes.  Courses offered by the institute have not only helped the students in enhancement of their academic career but also in seeking gainful employment in various sectors of the economy. 

 

            I appreciate the efforts of Institute of Distance Education.  The entire staff of Institute of Distance Education.  I am sure that the aspirants, who join the Institute will certainly gain better academic, professional and technical training for their excellent career development.
